It is estimated that most decisions determining the sustainability of a project are made in the first 1 percent of a project’s programme whereas the majority of the information required for sustainability assessment is not usually available or examined until after concept stage. By this time most solutions would need design or briefing changes that are too costly to implement.
The team works closely with the Sustainability group to develop tools that capture the complex relationships driving sustainable design solutions. Implementing these principles into parametric models early in a project’s program enables the team to identify major contributors to energy consumption whilst supporting design freedom.
