This competition entry combines three towers (two offices and one residential) into a cluster to maximise views and privacy while minimising external wall area and solar gain. The building façade consists of an encased primary steel structure and an inner glazed skin supplemented by a perforated mesh shading system, ‘tuned’ to minimise solar gain.

Aedas Advanced Modelling Group together with the design team, developed a subdivision strategy for the façade which controlled the size and number of openings in relation to the amount of solar radiation on each elevation. The resulting ‘veil’ also varies by depth based on orientation and inclination and supports a louver generated through similar parameters where necessary.
