This mixed-use development was designed to be the first such landmark building built in Karachi Port for the city’s new waterfront business district. The scheme aims to act as a catalyst for a major regeneration initiative and incorporates transport, residential, civic and retail programme.
Aedas Advanced Modelling Group created parametric computer models that integrate climatic and other environmental drivers into the form-finding of the building. These led the design development and were shared with the consultant team from the start allowing the comparison of the building’s structural and mechanical performance against cost drivers up-front. Our workflow helped inform the design of the building form and made the coordination and fine-tuning of the complex design feasible in the short programme. The 3D model also provided the basis for wind analysis, visualisations, physical models and floorplate schedules that contributed to significant savings on programme and cost.
