Zero Carbon Development in Abu Dhabi - Plot 3/4

View for

These two plots are primarily residential containing a dynamic village community within the greater masterplan. The development comprises a variety of interlinked residential units varying from studios, one, two and three bedroom flats. The orientation of the neighbourhood takes advantage of prevailing winds and temperature variations between summer and winter through streets aligned to the northeast and southwest.

The heights of buildings blocks across the neighbourhood were raised by two stories to bring both the North wind and the NW/SE winds deeper into the courtyards and gardens. A North/South wind corridor has been created through the site to channel wind into the development and limit wind-shading downwind from the plot. Additionally, the stepping of the building mass from the higher Northern corner towards the South helps with balancing overshadowing and daylight penetration.
