Having developed a methodology for the use of a variety of design stage tools Aedas is keen to ensure that as much as possible, from the early stages of design, is followed through on site. A rigorous approach to product selection is followed in consecutive design stages. Carrying this through to specification writing ensures that sustainable goals are incorporated by using approved installers, and tender processes assist in selecting suitable teams.
An awareness of local construction methods and skills is vital to achieving this and, where standard practice needs to be improved upon, an approach is taken to manage this. A close supervisory role at site stages helps to ensure correct installation, vital to the environmental performance and general lifespan of any built project. As per BREEAM we advise for the contractor to manage waste and recyclables and collate evidence of the sustainable features implemented on site for post-construction evaluation. This evidence is also required for Enhanced Capital Allowance claims.
